Writing Intern (Graduate Level)

Compensation: School credit

Location: Virtually or in Arlington, VA

Hours: 2-3 days per week (hours flexible)

Duration: This internship starts June 2016 and runs through the end of August.

Responsibilities: Be it features, blog posts, or witty captions for our social media outlets and marketing materials, we need someone who is passionate about stringing words together. This intern will be largely responsible for writing feature introductions, developing engaging training guides, pitching story ideas, perusing the web for images, and managing the blog.

Qualifications: Applicants must be grammar enthusiasts with a witty sense of humor. Actively pursuing a Graduate degree in English, creative writing, or journalism are preferred, but we’ll look past that if we like what we're reading! If you know your way around the Adobe Creative Suites, definitely let us know. We're seeking proactive individuals eager to gain more experience working with a startup. There will be opportunity to manage projects start-to-finish (from pitching features to developing compelling stories for online materials). NOTE: You must be available to meet at least once per week in Arlington, VA.

Marketing and Business Development Intern (Graduate Level)

Compensation: School credit

Location: Virtually or in Arlington, VA

Hours: 3-4 days per week (hours flexible)

Duration: This internship starts June 2016 and runs through the end of August.

Responsibilities: Develop and execute a strategy to develop new sales channels and opportunities for The Mentor Method. Find and sell to organizations, corporations, universities, alumni groups who would benefit from using our existing services. Find and confirm mentors for mentorship program. Create and maintain a data-driven approach to reaching out and following up with leads. Identify other partnerships and opportunities for us to expand our reach. Pitch in on side projects that help boost the team's success (we're a startup, after all!)

Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in an MBA program and have completed their first year of coursework. Applicants must have a proven track record in developing compelling deliverables with measurable results. Communicate well over email, phone, and in-person. Able to multi-task and stay focused to deliver commitments on time with high quality product in a fast paced, competitive environment.  Excellent written/oral communications and analytical skills including creation of client-facing presentations. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and manage virtual teams and build consensus. Collaborative work ethic, able to work with regional and worldwide leads and other groups in planning and execution. NOTE: You must be available to meet at least once per week in Arlington, VA.

Web Development Intern

Compensation: School credit

Location: Virtually or in Arlington, VA

Hours: 5 days per week (hours flexible)

Duration: This internship starts June 2016 and runs through the end of August.

Responsibilities: A smart, passionate, design-focused Web Developer/Designer with an interest in creating a cutting-edge web experience. Lead projects that will optimize the customers’ mentor matching experience through the company’s website. The Web Developer will launch a website redesign project, gathering information from stakeholders, while learning how to thrive in a startup environment. This position also ensures that the website is responsive, accessible and able to scale for multiple, private clients at a time. Must assure that all design, data, and infrastructure is validated and will not dysfunction with several users at a time. If projects are successful at the end of the internship, the Web Developer will have the benefit of receiving referrals to potential clients for future, freelance web development work.

Qualifications: Actively pursuing a Graduate degree in design, web development, digital media are preferred, but we’ll look past that if we like your work! Must have prior work to demonstrate skills and abilities. Must own a Mac or Windows based PC or laptop. Experience working with Wordpress and PHP. Experience developing customer portals. Experience with the latest web authoring tools and latest Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with cross-platform, multi-browser issues. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to take direction and make each project your own. Must be able to complete projects in a timely manner and work in a fast-paced environment to meet milestones. NOTE: You must be available to meet at least once per week in Arlington, VA. Virtual meetings will be held as needed.
