Thanksgiving weekend is officially over. The leftovers are packed in the fridge, family has departed and you’re settling in for the stretch of weeks between Thanksgiving and January 1st. This time of year is filled with sparkles, cold weather, and gifts; it feels like we have been transferred into another world. It’s easy to lose track of all the tasks on your to-do list and all the work that needs to be accomplished but it’s important to not let the holidays swallow you whole. Here is a list of 6 ways you can stay focused and motivated in December.
Make a list. Don’t let Santa be the only one with a list that stretches for miles. Spend time writing down what needs to be done as the quarter comes to an end and stay focused on checking everything off.
Separate it out. We’re all busy during the normal year with our jobs, side hustles, families, fitness, and about a million other things. But this time of year, it seems like everything has multiplied in every aspect of your life. Try making categories according to priority to help you get everything done in a well rounded way. Take into account what is a must-do versus what would be nice to have completed and everything in between.
Go for it. Take a risk that you have been yearning to do for the last couple months. Use this time of year to inspire you to be bold. The holidays might encourage people to be more generous than you think.
Don’t let the thanks end with Thanksgiving. You might have already gone around your dining room table saying what you’re thankful for and you might feel like you have told everyone in your life how much you appreciate them, but don’t let the stress of the holidays stop you from expressing how thankful you are for all the people in your life. It’s super important to remind people how much they mean to you. Even a quick email can go a long way.
Take a timeout. There is so much to do this time of year that it can be entirely overwhelming. Don’t let the never ending list stop you from recharging. You will be the most productive version of yourself if you sit back and take some time to relax. It will give you the energy to get through your list.
Clean. There are decorations and wrapping paper everywhere. The mess can lead to extra stress. It might seem like cleaning is the last thing you have time to get done. It will make you feel so much better if you take some time to clean your desk, your room, and your kitchen. A clean, organized space will minimize distractions and let you knock out those tasks.
