How to Make 2018 Your Year for D&I

The Mentor Method is focused on helping you and your company effectively commit to diversity and inclusion (D&I). We know that D&I fosters a top-performing environment that promises to bring innovation, creativity, and success to every field. We want to help make 2018 the year that you start up (or re-start up) a successful diversity & inclusion initiative that gets results. This post will help you figure out how to get started.

You know D&I is important and it’s something that you’ve been meaning to get around to but you just haven’t really made it happen.

  1. First and foremost, don’t feel like it is too late to start. It’s never too late to focus on creating an inclusive workplace culture. The start of this new year is the perfect opportunity to get on the right track.

  2. Make a plan and commit to it. Do not let this become another failed New Year's resolution. A common sentiment shared by employers creating a new initiative is that they quickly loses steam once ongoing to-do lists fill up with other tasks throughout the year. Unlike the company picnic or brownbag lunches, committing to make a diversity & inclusion initiative that generates results, will pay off in the end. In fact, your company can become 80% more likely to outperform your competitors by committing to a new strategy.

  3. Sign up for a workshop to get you started. They say the first step is always the hardest, and it can be intimidating to reach out.If your team isn’t large enough to create the strategy and initiatives your employees deserve, workshops are a great starting point. Workshops are designed to help you and your work culture become more inclusive through group exercises, . The variety of workshops allow you to get what is most needed in your work culture.

  4. We love to speak. 80% of the companies in our pipeline came from either warm intros or in-person speaking engagements. This is due to dynamic speakers and important content that keep your employees and colleagues wanting to learn more.

  5. This isn’t boring 5th grade assembly. The workshops are real, interesting, and even fun to listen to. It’s all about acknowledging a problem that exists and finding the best way to work towards solving it. It’s adults coming together in an informative way to fill a gap that has been missing in your workspace.

  6. Even if your office seems to not prioritize it. We know there are some work cultures that do not excel at D&I and may act like they don’t care to fix it, but the simple truth is that it matters. Our workshops can be effective at inspiring people to see the importance of D&I.

  7. If you think it’s already successful, check twice. There is room for improvement in everything we do. Even if the D&I seems flawless in your workplace, we can help improve trouble spots and problem areas with the perfect workshop for your almost perfect office.

Help your workplace help itself and contact The Mentor Method right away. Set up a D&I workshop to bring you into 2018 and stick to this New Year’s resolution. We look forward to hearing from you.
